Enoch understood something: the world is trying to work on your heart right now. To "cool you off" spiritually. Jesus said it plainly in Matthew 24: "Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold." That's not a warning about some future generation. That's a description of what's already in motion. The pull is constant, effective, and quiet. But there are ways to stay hot for the Lord, no matter what the world throws at you to avoid becoming a spiritual ice cube.
Way #1: Avoid the Pull of Distractions
Distraction is the weapon this generation faces more than any other. Jesus said that in the days before His return, men would be occupied with their ongoing pursuits. Eating, drinking, buying, building. This doesn’t condemn work or living your life. It was a description of being absorbed by it.
The “pull” is not into obvious evil. It’s into endless activities. Into everything that crowds out what matters most. That's the tension we live in: called to occupy and take territory, but surrounded by a system that relentlessly demands our focus. However, the darkness around you doesn't have to cool your heart. It can actually drive you closer to God, if you let it and the most powerful way to do that starts with how you pray.
Way #2: Use the Lord's Prayer to Avoid the Enemy's Traps
Jesus gave us instruction in Matthew 6, not as a template to rush through, but a daily covenant act. This part carries more supernatural power than it seems: "Father, lead me away from temptation."
When you pray that, and mean it, angels redirect your steps. The enemy sets his traps, but you won’t even be there. Also, pray in tongues. Your spiritual language builds what the natural mind can't always reach.
Make these a daily covenant, and heaven will respond.
Way #3: Walk Daily With God
Maybe you’re thinking: “I don't have time to walk with God like that.”
I understand.
But here's what Enoch's life shows: he was married. He had children. He had the same 24 hours you have. And he lived in an age of wickedness that made ours look mild. Yet he walked with God for 300 years.
And Enoch was not alone.
Ancient writings speak of a whole company of believers in his generation who walked like he did. Enoch mentored them. He showed them the way. And that company walked faithfully until they passed from the earth.
There is an Enoch company in the earth today. On every continent, in every nation. And the way they got there was the same way Enoch did, one day at a time.
A day becomes a week. A week becomes a month. A month becomes one year.
You can flip the trajectory of your life in one day.
If you feel like you've wasted time — weeks, maybe even a couple of years — there is grace.
Make the commitment. Start today. You can walk like Enoch did.
Let Heaven Pull You In
The first time I ever heard an angel speak to me, it said:
“Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.”
It’s still true today. Move toward Him, and He comes toward you. He will pull you in, and when you're consistent, you become someone who ignites others.
That is the role of the Enoch company, not just to walk, but to carry fire to those who have grown cold.
Now pray this with me, out loud:
"Father, I come before You and ask that my love for You never grows cold. Forgive me for the times I let the noise of this world crowd You out. Today I choose You. Above the distractions, above the pull, above everything passing away. Lead me away from every trap the enemy has set. I commit to walking with You one day at a time, the way Enoch did. Steady, close, and on fire. And as I carry that fire, let it touch everyone around me. Use me to ignite what has grown cold. In Jesus' name, amen."
