"Hey, you just passed my house!"
The passenger was frustrated. I was embarrassed, again. I was a taxi driver who couldn't see street signs or house addresses, especially at night. Even with glasses as thick as coke bottles, I was at the edge of being legally blind.
But I had hope this wouldn't be my story forever. I'd been studying Kenneth Hagin's teaching on Mark 11:23: "You will have whatever you say." Hagin revealed a principle in that verse:
Jesus put three times more emphasis on speaking than on believing.
That means confession isn't a one-time thing. Most people say it once on Sunday. Nothing happens by Wednesday, so they quit. I decided to stay on it. So for two years, every single day, I confessed:
"Jesus, I believe I receive Hawkeye vision! I have incredible, superhuman vision! I can see like a hawk!"
Every. Single. Day.
I never missed once. Sometimes I said it multiple times throughout the day. And the whole time, I was still wearing those big, thick glasses. Near the end of those two years, I drove to California praying in tongues the entire way for fifteen hours. My tongue was on fire. Something broke through in the spirit realm that night.
When I stopped at a rest area near the state line, I got out, used the restroom, splashed water on my face. Then I sat on the hood of my car for a minute, took off my glasses, and just relaxed. I thanked God for getting me that far. When I felt ready to keep going, I got back in the car, shifted into drive, and merged onto the freeway.
Ten miles later, I thought, "Wait. Where are my glasses?" I looked around. They weren't on the passenger seat. They weren't in my lap. Then it hit me. I'd been driving for ten miles at highway speed without my glasses.
And I could see.
I could see the road. The signs. Everything. They must have blown off the hood when I merged onto the freeway. Gone somewhere back on the highway. I said out loud, "Lord, there went my glasses. There's no turning back now."
A few days later, I needed to get a California driver's license. I walked into the DMV, and the devil started whispering: "You're about to really embarrass yourself. You don't have your glasses. You're going to fail this test in front of everyone."
I ignored him.
The lady said, "Step up to the line and read the top row." I read it perfectly. Every letter.
"You passed," she said. But I wasn't done. Stepping back to the second line. The one she didn't ask me to read. I called out those letters too. She looked up, surprised. "You got all of those right."
Going back to the farthest line, I read the smallest print on the chart.
She just stared. "You got all of those right too."
Now I was having fun. I could see everything— clearly, perfectly, effortlessly. Later, I discovered my vision had gone way beyond normal 20/20.
I was operating at 20/10.
Vision most people never experience.
I know how this sounds. Half-blind taxi driver gets super-sight through confession? But it happened. Mark 11:23 works. Better than I could have imagined.
I stayed at that level for about a year. Then other faith projects took priority, and I stopped confessing for my eyes. The 20/10 super-sight faded but the core breakthrough stuck.
Three decades later...
I still have 20/20 vision for fine print.
I wear glasses now only for distance.
From the edge of legal blindness to that.
Daily confession works.
And it can work for you.
So here's the question that matters now: What's YOUR mountain? Pick one to three things that align with your destiny. Things you have faith for. Things that matter to God's calling on your life. Write them down. Say them out loud every day. Not once on Sunday. Daily. Put a start date on it. Commit to ninety days minimum. Even if it takes two years like it did for me, it's worth it! You can have what you say. But you have to actually say it.
And I know you will!
Pray this with me out loud:
"Father, I pray that You would help us target what to confess—what mountain to speak to, what breakthrough to call forth. Empower us to stay on it, day after day, until the manifestation comes.
Father, we thank You that we will have what we say. In Jesus' name, amen."
