5 Keys to Walking in Miracle Power

    August 06, 2026 | Resources

There is a power gift in the Bible that overrides natural laws, confronts impossible situations, and leaves no doubt that God has moved.

Some have never seen it in operation. Others have tasted it and know there is more.

It’s called the gift of the working of miracles, listed in 1 Cor. 12.

I want to fuel your desire to pursue this gift.

To recognize when it’s there, to act when it’s flowing, and to carry it well.

Key #1: Let God awaken your hunger for staggering wonders

    Imagine this:

A man has been dead for four days. Someone says to open the tomb. Everyone expects the smell of death. No one expects him to walk out.

Yet Jesus commands them to roll the stone away. Then He calls Lazarus by name. The man who was dead comes out alive. Some are in shock, some in disbelief, some in anger, but none can deny what just happened.

The working of miracles confronts situations that appear final. It is an explosion of God’s almightiness breaking into the impossible and God still works through people to perform staggering wonders.

There are people today who cannot be set free with words alone. They need God to step in with mighty power.

Perhaps that is why you feel a growing hunger for this gift. It is a taste of the powers of the age to come.

Key #2: Make room for the gift God may have planned for you

Scripture tells believers to earnestly desire spiritual gifts.

Bring this desire to God. Then bring it again. You cannot create the gift through effort... or force God to release it, but you can give this desire a place in your prayers.

God may already have this gift planned for you, but it must be pursued.

    So keep seeking Him.

Then recognize when it starts to flow.

Key #3: Learn to recognize when miracle power is there

One minister knew the gift was there when he felt pressure tighten around his head like a baseball hat. The pressure was tangible, real enough to touch.

Then his faith surged. For me, I begin to smell certain kinds of fragrances. The signs are personal.

Yours may be different, but the Holy Spirit knows how to make His help clear to you.

But recognizing the moment is not enough. You must act… even if opposition comes.

Key #4: Move through resistance when God fills you with faith

God tells a minister named William Duma to raise a dead girl.

As he walks toward her village, the Holy Spirit warns him: Don’t stop. Don’t speak with anyone. On the way, people curse him. They insult him. The enemy knows what’s about to happen.

Duma keeps walking. He feels like “a man from another world.” He reaches the girl, prays over her, and she rises from the dead. So you must keep moving. But the test does not end when the miracle happens.

Key #5: Carry the power without taking credit

I knew a minister who held meetings in Hawaii. For several days, astonishing miracles happened as he prayed for people. Not just healings, miracles on the level of anything you read in the Bible.

People praised him. They called him a "mighty man of God." They said, “God’s great man has come on the scene.”

    And he got into pride.

Later, alone in his hotel room, he finished a fish dinner. He had already undressed for the night – wearing only his underwear. To keep the room from smelling like fish, he leaned into the hallway to set down his dinner tray. The door clicked shut behind him. He tried the handle.

    Locked.

There was no stairwell nearby. Only the elevators. Then he heard God ask, “What are you going to do now, mighty man of power?”

    “I don’t know, Lord.”

So he sat in the hallway for nearly an hour. Then the elevator opened. His team walked around the corner, saw him – and burst out laughing. Afterward, one of them helped him back into his room.

Back inside his room, he prayed, “Oh God, I am so sorry.”

When this power breaks out, people will want to praise you. They’ll see you as “God, junior.” Give God all the credit. Remember who supplies the power. Refuse to take the praise that belongs to Him.

    Stay humble before God.

The Holy Spirit will help you carry the gift

    Do not shrink back.

When the moment comes, the Holy Spirit will draw near. He will make His help clear and give you strength to act. Resistance does not have to stop you. Attention does not have to destroy you. You can move in this explosive, exciting gift – and see people set free. So seek it without fear.

God may have planned this gift for you.

Now pray this with me, out loud:

“Father, I come before You and ask You to awaken my hunger for the working of miracles. Teach me to earnestly desire the gifts of the Holy Spirit and to make room for them in prayer. Help me recognize when Your power is present and give me faith to act when the moment comes. Do not let resistance stop me or praise lift me into pride. Keep me low before You. Remind me that all power comes from You and all glory belongs to You. If You have planned this gift for me, help me pursue it without fear, carry it well, and see people set free.

    In Jesus’ name, amen.”
