You know God has a purpose for your life.
But what happens when your circumstances don’t look anything like it?
When the resources aren’t there, the opportunity hasn’t opened, or the path isn’t clear.
How do you keep moving toward something you cannot yet see?
Let’s look at what faith does when God has prepared the destination, but you still have to walk the path.
Step 1: Pray until you know the direction God has for you
What if you got into a car and asked the driver, “Where are we going?”
They say: “Everywhere.”
You would probably get out of the vehicle.
Because you want to go somewhere, not everywhere.
So it starts with asking the Lord to show you what He has prepared for you.
You don’t need your entire life mapped out.
You just need something more specific than, “I know God has a purpose for me.”
Something you can see.
Something you can put faith on.
But the path may still be unclear.
Step 2: Pray and look for the open door
For years, God showed me a vision for a ministry headquarters.
But I didn’t have the property, a plan, or open door.
I sensed there could be something near the airport.
So I walked around that airport every day, by faith. Back and forth. Around the airport.
I prayed in the Spirit.
And believed God would do something special.
Day after day. There was still no property.
Then it happened: land came up for sale right by the airport.
It had apparently never been for sale during my lifetime,
But we had no money.
So we made a bid and offered something almost nobody does with land – owner financing.
They agreed.
You don’t need the whole route.
Take the step you can see.
Now we had the property.
And the next challenge appeared.
Step 3: Work the obstacles in front of you so the missing pieces will come together
The property was all forest.
Gigantic trees 80 to 100 feet tall.
“How am I going to clear this for a building pad?”
I went online and searched.
A giant machine was needed.
It cost nearly half a million dollars.
“Lord, that’s what I need, please help.”
One day, I’m talking with a ministry partner on the phone. He mentions he’s a land developer and I tell him about the giant machine I need.
He casually says:
“Oh, I’ve got one of those.”
And he volunteers to bring it!
Not long after, trees were coming down and the pad site opens in the middle of that forest.
As we kept working, more solutions surfaced.
Development became easier and less expensive.
As you move forward in faith, the provision and solutions you need come forth.
But faith is not just taking steps.
Faith also sees the finished work.
Step 4: Visualize the finished work before you can physically touch it
As you move forward, a vision where you can see it finished is required.
Today, I can open blueprints and show a clear picture of the ministry headquarters.
The cameras.
The workers.
The set.
I can see it built… before it’s there:
Hebrews 4 promises that the works were “finished” before the visible work began.
So you see your project finished already.
You see it through the eye of faith.
But the final picture doesn’t reveal every step between here and there.
Step 5: Seek God to clear specific obstacles
A prophet named Elder Ephraim had bought land for a beautiful ministry work.
He knew that God said, ‘This is the land.’”
But progress stopped.
He asked: “How come nothing’s getting done?”
“Man of God, we have been informed by the county that there’s no water out to this remote area of land.”
No water meant no building permits.
He said: “I’ll be back in three days.”
He went out to pray.
Three days later, he came back.
He brought the drilling company onto the property.
He pointed to one specific place.
“Drill here.”
They were kind of giggling.
They thought they were going to drill a dry well.
As they began… water.
Not a trickle – a gigantic reservoir!!
So much water they could sell it to local areas that had none.
The assignment for Elder Ephraim had not changed.
He simply needed the next piece.
That’s why you continually pray to know what’s next.
God unfolds things in stages.
And when the next step becomes clear, you move.
Avoid theorizing about your destiny and start moving toward it
What has God been putting in front of you?
Pray it.
See it.
Then take the next step you can take.
Ask the question.
Do the research.
Move forward.
And when you reach something bigger than your resources, pray, “Lord, help.”
And keep moving.
It may not unfold overnight.
But keep going, in faith.
And watch what God has prepared for you come together.
Right on time.
Now pray this with me, out loud:
"Father, I come before You, asking You to reveal the works You prepared for me to walk in.
Give me understanding of what You have planned and help me get Your word on it.
Teach me to see by faith what You have already prepared, even when my circumstances do not yet match it.
Give me courage to take the next step You place before me.
When I face obstacles bigger than my resources, remind me that You already know the provision, the people, the connections, and the solutions I need.
Help me move forward in faith and trust, as You unfold each step in Your timing.
Let my life bring glory to You as I walk in the purpose You prepared for me.
