The Purple Kite: Knowing Who You Are in Christ and Living From Victory

    October 01, 2026 | Resources

A picnic table full of pigs, that's where I was sitting.

    I was the only human.

    And I knew I didn’t belong there.

God gave me this supernatural dream over 30 years ago.

At the time, I was frustrated with areas of my life that still needed victory.

The pigs in the dream were eating slop, gnawing on empty corn cobs, smacking away at whatever was on the table.

There was no food for me.

“Lord, I don’t belong here. This is not who I am.”

    Then something strange happened.

Gravity started losing its pull on me.

    I began to rise.

    The Purple Kite

About ten feet off the ground, I started to change.

My human form became a kite.

A purple kite – the color of royalty.

I had a tail, with one thin string still holding me to the earth.

    Up I went.

The higher I rose, the more my purple showed.

    The Voices From Below

Then I heard the pigs below.

“Who do you think you are?”

    “You’re just one of us.”

“Get back down here where you belong.”

It sounded just like the devil, trying to tell me who I was.

    Some mocked me.

    Others made fun of me.

But I kept going higher and higher.

Eventually, I couldn’t even hear what they were saying.

    I’ll Never Go Back

After a while, they forgot about me.

They went back to eating their slop.

And the wind, the Holy Spirit, held me up.

I knew I would never return to that table.

Never again would I hang out with pigs.

    Then I woke up.

You Don’t Belong at That Table

This dream showed me who I was in Christ.

And that the struggles I had learned to live with were abnormal.

Maybe there’s an area of your life where defeat has felt familiar.

And you wonder if you belong there.

    Financial lack.

    Depression.

    Sickness.

None of these are for you.

God says He’s raised you up and seated you with Christ in the heavenly places (Eph. 2:6).

So when the enemy tries to sell you false images like:

    “You’re really a depressed person.”

“See, it won’t work for you.”

    “You’ll never overcome.”

    Answer him:

    “Jesus defeated you.”

“I know exactly who I am: an overcomer.”

“I know exactly who you are: the defeated one.”

“That doesn’t move me one bit. I know who I am.”

“I’m still seated with Jesus in the heavenly realms.”

    Don’t fight FOR your victory.

Speak FROM your victory – seated with Christ.

Now pray this with me, out loud:

“Father, thank You that Jesus’ victory is my victory.

Thank You that You have raised me up and seated me with Christ in the heavenly places.

Do not let me get comfortable with any area of defeat.

Open my understanding to who I am in Christ.

When the enemy says, ‘Who do you think you are?’ let me answer, ‘I know exactly who I am. I am an overcomer.’

Thank You that I’m not trying to be raised up. I already am.

    In Jesus’ name, amen.”
