Years ago, I was sitting on a bench in a crowded part of a big city when two homeless men settled in right beside me, close enough that I could hear every word they said.
What started as casual talk turned into something I wasn't expecting. One of them began sharing his take on life, on the way things really work. The longer he spoke, the more I thought: this man sounds like a college professor. Put him in a classroom and he might have gotten a standing ovation.
Then someone started handing out free sandwiches nearby. They got up mid-sentence and left.
Solomon describes someone like him in Ecclesiastes 9 — a poor wise man who delivered an entire city under siege, by wisdom alone. He saved the city. But what God placed in him was never fully expressed.
Having Wisdom Isn't Enough
The poor wise man delivered the city with his wisdom. He won the military battle, but he lost on the financial battlefield. Somehow, the wisdom that could save a city never translated into the man's own life.
That's what poverty does: it attempts to distort your destiny and minimize your potential. This limitation happened to the poor wise man. And to the homeless man on the bench.
Wisdom was never meant to end there.
Wisdom Must Produce
In Matthew 11:19, Jesus says it plainly: wisdom is justified by her children. Wisdom must have proof. Visible results that show it was the right way to live.
But how does wisdom get from what you know to what your life shows?
God works with you — your faith, your mind, your understanding, your devotional life. As you are diligent with what He has given you, He comes in, and your season begins to change. That is when wisdom begins to produce children.
God Is Not Leaving You Half Done
You are not going to be in the category of the wise poor man.
People who knew you before, who know where you started, won't be able to explain what they're seeing. They'll ask each other: how are they doing this?
They won't always want to know your secret. But they won't be able to deny the proofs. The truths you proclaim will be seen in your life. Not just felt, but seen.
God wants the full spectrum of your life glorifying Him — your health, your calling, your finances. All of it.
That is the full testimony.
Now pray this with me out loud:
“Father, we thank You for the spirit of wisdom working in our lives. Thank You that our destinies will not be distorted, that what You placed in us will fully translate into the life it was built to produce. We receive the full testimony. Bring us into marvelous proofs, and let children of wisdom be seen all around us. In Jesus’ name, amen.”
